Symptom
Firmware upgrade to version 0409 has been released. This upgrade solves errors in the European languages of the On-Screen-Display (OSD).
Cure
A. Preparation to upgrade the firmware:
1. Start CD Burning software and create a new CD project (data disc)
with the following settings:
File system : ISO9660
Physical format of CD : MODE 1 / 2 / XA
Recording mode : SINGLE SESSION (TRACK-AT-ONCE),
FINALIZED CD
2. Place the file dvpxx.rom into the root directory of the new CD
project. Caution: Do not rename the original filename!
3. Burn the data onto a blank CD-R
Note: ISO9660 is mandatory, UDF discs are not supported!
The final CD-ROM must not contain any other data except the file.
B. Procedure to apply the firmware upgrade:
1. Connect the mains cord to the wall socket and power up the set
2. Open the tray by pressing the OPEN/CLOSE button
3. Place the upgrade CD-ROM into the tray and close the tray by
pressing the OPEN/CLOSE button
4. The set will respond and display the following message sequence:
Set display : LOADING > ERASE > WRITE > DONE
TV screen display: DISC LOADING > FLASH > DVPXX.ROM >
READING > FLASH > ERASE > WRITE > DONE
Caution: Do not press any button or unplug the set until the upgrade
has completed! The whole process takes about 2 minutes. The DVDplayer will turn off automatically indicating that the upgrade has
completed successfully.
5. Unplug the mains cord
6. Reconnect the mains cord after 15 seconds and power up the set
7. Open the tray by pressing the "OPEN/CLOSE" button and remove
the CD-ROM
C. How to read out the firmware version to confirm upgrading
1. Power up the set
2. Open the tray by pressing the OPEN/CLOSE button
3. Press the buttons (5) (6) (9) (OK) on the Remote Control
4. The TV screen will show VERxxxx yyy/zz aa b
xxxx ......firmware version number
yyy........model number (e.g. 630, 632, etc.)
zz..........stroke version (e.g. 00, 02, etc.)
b ...........region code
5. Ensure that the model number and stroke version displayed
corresponds with the set. Otherwise follow the instructions on the
TV screen to select the correct model number and stroke version
by pressing the (UP) resp. (DOWN) button on the Remote
Control. Finally press the (OK) button on the Remote Control to
confirm.
6. Power off and on the set to reboot the system
D. Re-programming the Region Code
After upgrading the firmware the customer settings and the region
code might have been lost. Re-programming will put the set back in
the state in which it has left the factory, i.e. with the default settings
and the correct region code.
To re-program the set proceed as follows:
1. Power up the set
2. Open the tray by pressing the OPEN/CLOSE button
3. Press the following buttons on the Remote Control:
(7) (8) (9) (OK) (2) (PLAY)...............for DVP630/00/02/05
(7) (8) (9) (OK) (2) (PLAY)...............for DVP632/00/02/05
4. The tray will close
