A violent brawl broke out in front of stunned Aldi shoppers and a young child on Dudley Road in Lye on Saturday afternoon resulting in a woman falling on a pram

A shocking video has captured the moment a wild brawl broke out outside an Aldi store in the West Midlands as horrified shoppers looked on.

The chaotic incident happened at the Dudley Road supermarket at around 1.17pm on Saturday (February 3). A video, which has gained more than 170,000 views on social media, started as staff were repeatedly telling a man to "go" and gesturing away from the store.

A woman then appears to step towards a security guard and slaps him in the face - knocking his glasses off - before she stumbles back into a pram. Another woman then comes into shot, who was standing near the pushchair with a young child in her arms, watching the drama unfold.

The security guard had been pulled aside by a store employee, but he appears to shrug him off to throw a punch at the man, Birmingham Live reports. The pair then started fighting, with numerous kicks and punches exchanged before staff were able to separate them.

The woman appeared to strike out at the security guard once more before heading towards the store doors with the man. The pair were both shouting at store staff, who could be heard telling them to "calm down" as the clip ended.

A small child was also present when violence erupted outside the budget supermarket. The Daily Star has contacted West Midlands Police and Aldi for a comment. At the moment, it is unclear what triggered the incident.

Last month, Aldi hit the headlines after a staff member claimed shoppers could be "refused" service if they don't follow a bag search rule. The supermarket chain, which competes with the likes of Lidl, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Asda and more, has reportedly instructed staff to deny service to customers who don't comply with this measure.

The Aldi employee shared on social media that staff have been told to refuse the sale. Aldi confirmed that bag checks are being carried out in stores by staff where necessary, but only with customers' permission.
