Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana reportedly ran over EastEnders star Dean Gaffney on a night out.
Fofana allegedly struck the EastEnders dad-of-two with his Lamborghini on the King’s Road in Chelsea – leaving the actor famous for his portrayal as Robbie Jackson with a trip to hospital, which revealed he had suffered a broken collarbone.
The 23-year-old Frenchman was breathalysed by police at the scene and passed the test, meaning he was allowed to head on his way, as he was not deemed to be at fault for the accident.
A source from The Sun claims: “It was a nasty accident and Dean said afterwards that he was lucky to be alive and was counting his blessings. He’d just left a nightspot and was trying to get in a black cab when the Lamborghini hit him in the midriff, catapulting him into the air.
“He was out cold and his mates were all really worried. The emergency services gave him pain relief and he was patched up in hospital. At the time, he did not realise who the driver was but was told later that it was Wesley Fofana. Dean’s a Brentford fan and joked about a star of a rival club taking out a well-known fan of their neighbours!”
It’s said Gaffney, 45, only found out Fofana was the driver of the car until later, while it’s reported the player was “unaware” of the soap stars’ identity. The incident, which happened in December 2022, hasn’t previously been mentioned by the former I'm a Celebrity star because there was “no blame attached” and it “was not anybody’s fault”.
The Blues’ £70million centre-back has been plagued by injuries since arriving at Stamford Bridge in 2022. He is yet to appear this season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament during pre-season.
Meanwhile, Gaffney has been in the headlines this weekend after a group of OnlyFans workers revealed that he has been DM’ing them, asking to meet up. The 45-year-old had been sending messages to women 20 years his junior – with one even blocking him for repeatedly contacting her.
OnlyFans model Morgan Holly Moore wrote on Twitter: “Dean Gaffney has now messaged me on three separate Instagram accounts after I’ve told him no and blocked him on the others. He’s even acting like he doesn’t know it’s me as he’s messaged previously. How many girls does this man message?” She eventually replied to one of the messages, simply saying: “Bore off Dean”.
The soap actor – who came fifth in I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! in 2006 – previously suffered serious head injuries in a car crash January 2013. Gaffney, who was a passenger in the car, said: “I was an idiot not to wear my seatbelt. It was a big wake-up call as I’m the father of two children.”
Gaffney won the role of Robbie Jackson at the age of 15 and spent 11 years in the soap alongside his faithful dog Wellard. He returned briefly in 2004, 2010 and 2015, when his character moved to Milton Keynes to start a new life after splitting from wife Nita, before returning again from 2017 to 2019, only to leave the show due to concerns about his behaviour off-set.
