A former Premier League star married his blonde bombshell WAG only to become brothers-in-law with a team-mate who wed her stunning twin sister

A former Premier League ace got down on one knee for his stunning blonde WAG, only for a team-mate to do the same with her twin sister.

Joselu, who turned out for Stoke City and Newcastle before eventually making a mega move back to Real Madrid where he started his career, married blonde bombshell Melanie Canizares in 2016. And the star striker - who turned 36 on Friday - might not have any idea that he would soon have a brother-in-law in form of fellow Los Blancos and Spain hero Dani Carvajal.

Six years after Melanie and Joselu shared the spotlight during a lush ceremony, it was Daphne Canizares' turn to be the centre of attention with Carvajal. Melanie worked as a flight attendant and a model, while Daphne owns a wedding company, 'Blue Weddings'.

Over on Instagram, Daphne boasts a following of 266k, while Melanie has 56.6k. And they like to treat their followers to sizzling snaps along with candid photos from their personal lives with two renowned footballers.

Over the years the sisters have had chances to share the stands and cheer on their significant others as they shared the pitch in Madrid and with the Spanish national team - enjoying fame and glory in the process.

They were both part of the Spanish team that won Euro 2024, defeating England in the final. But after Joselu left Madrid that summer, they had to wait until Christmas for a proper family reunion. Having reunited for the festive period, Joselu captioned his post: “Best wishes on this special night with Family.”

Now playing in Qatar with Al-Gharafa SC, Joselu reflected on his time in the Premier League back in 2024 when speaking to The Guardian, saying: "Those were good times...

"It is true that everyone hated playing at Stoke. It was a test. It was always windy – the corners are open.

"Boxing Day, freezing … no one wanted to come. That was a good year: we finished ninth, beat City and United and reached the [League] Cup semi-final, only losing on penalties at Anfield...

"I played with good footballers: Crouch, [Marko] Arnautovic, Jonny Walters...”

Joselu scored four times in 27 games for the Potters in 2015-16, before registering seven goals in 52 appearances for the Magpies between 2017 and 2019.

He added: “It was hard [to leave] because I had got to know everyone there but they were looking for a shift in style. I still follow Stoke. They just can’t quite get back to the Premier League.

"The players have gone but I have loads of friends there. I had people from Stoke at my wedding, people from Newcastle too."
