A glamour model famed for cheeky shoots in lad mags has shared her struggle with a 'one-in-a-million' condition as she prepares for high-risk surgery to save her life

A former pin-up girl who graced the pages of FHM and reached the finals of Miss Great Britain is poised to undergo “high-risk surgery” to remove a life-threatening tumour and let her enjoy her birthday on Sunday with fresh hope. Louise Glover, 42, revealed that her four-hour operation is going ahead this morning after more than a month in hospital in Oxford.

The stunner told her fans last week that she was “staying positive” after a "one-in-a-million" cancer left her "stuck in fight or flight". “The symptoms have been there for 19 months, the heart palpitations, the sweating, banging headaches," she said. "It’s brought me to my knees.”

Louise explained in a Instagram video that she kept the illness secret while she faced up to her shocking diagnosis. Along with painful symptoms, she has constantly risked a heart attack or stroke after suffering a rare tumour of the adrenal glands known as a Pheochromocytoma.

The rare tumour, affecting only 100 patients a year, can cause the glands to release too many hormones, sparking heart palpitations and high blood pressure.

The lad mag sizzler said she had been vomiting and collapsing before doctors finally found the cause of her symptoms. But surgeons will now take out the tumour along with one of her adrenal glands.

Louise took to social media to bravely share her battle. “It’s called Pheochromocytoma, it is one in a million rare. So basically, I’m stuck in fight or flight and I’ve been stuck in it for 18 months," she said.

“The symptoms have been there for 19 months, the heart palpitations, the sweating, banging headaches; it’s brought me to my knees.”

Louise posted last week: “34 days in hospital with a rare active tumour called Pheochromocytoma — diagnosed in only 1 in a million people each year.

“The tumour is growing in one of the most dangerous places in the body: my adrenal gland, where it’s been over-secreting adrenaline and other hormones daily for the last 18 months.

“This has caused: dangerously high heart rate & blood pressure, high risk of stroke & heart attack, brought on Osteoporosis & type 2 diabetes.

“I’m now awaiting high-risk surgery at Oxford hospital with specialities to remove the tumour and adrenal gland, hopefully in the next few weeks.”

The glam model asked fans for their support after the illness left her unable to work and at risk of losing her houseboat.

Louise reached the final of Miss Great Britain in 2006 before her saucy shoots wowed readers in FHM, Bizarre, Maxim, and Loaded.
