Jadon Sancho loan fee agreed with Man Utd and outcast will join up with Dortmund soon
Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement over a loan fee for Jadon Sancho, with the winger and Erik ten Hag still not seeing eye-to-eye at Old Trafford
Jadon Sancho's Manchester United nightmare is about to come to an end with a return to Borussia Dortmund close to being concluded.
The Red Devils outcast has not figured in the squad since August due to a falling out with Erik ten Hag. No resolution has been found between player and manager, and as a result, United have looked to move the 23-year-old on.
Bundesliga side Dortmund subsequently opened talks with United over re-signing the winger, who left them back in the summer of 2021 in a deal worth £73m. Sancho will now rejoin the club after a loan fee of £2..6m was agreed.
The United man will soon travel to Marbella to join up with the Dortmund camp, who are away doing warm-weather training during Germany's winter break from football. He could even be there by Friday (January 5).
Dortmund face a friendly with AZ Alkmaar on Saturday, and are not back in action in the Bundesliga until Saturday, January 13. The fifth-placed side go to bottom of the league Darmstadt, in what could be Sancho's second debut for the club.
The England winger refused to apologise to ten Hag for a social media post earlier this season after the United boss said his omission from September's loss at Arsenal was related to his performances in training. Sancho denied this, and accused Ten Hag of lying to make him a scapegoat.
Since then, Sancho has been banished from the first-team squad and was ordered to train alone. Ten Hag said he would have welcomed Sancho back into the fold if he apologised and showed some contribution. But Sancho refused - and remained frozen out.
United, meanwhile, do not play until Monday. An away FA Cup tie at Wigan Athletic awaits in the third round. Tottenham then visit Old Trafford in a crunch Premier League clash on Sunday, January 14.
Ten Hag cannot afford to lose either match, with the manager under mounting pressure. United sit eighth in the Premier League table, having been beaten 2-1 by Nottingham Forest in their last outing.
Elsewhere, United goalkeeper Andre Onana has brokered a deal between his club and the Cameroon Football Federation that will see him join up with Cameroon for the African Cup of Nations following his side's game against Spurs next weekend.
