Jurgen Klopp lands new job in football management months after leaving Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp looks set to land his first job in football after walking away from Liverpool - with the German set to be named as Red Bull's new head of global soccer
Jurgen Klopp is set to land his first job in football after walking away from Liverpool.
Klopp, 57, has agreed a long-term deal to become Red Bell's new head of global soccer - with the German now set to oversee the drink manufacturer's ever-expanding list of sides. According to Sky Sports, Klopp will start his new role on January 1 2025.
The ex-Liverpool man will be responsible at the strategic management level for Red Bull's international network of clubs - including RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg and New York Red Bulls.
Red Bull also owns two sides in Brazil, one in Ghana, a development team in Austria as well as acquiring a minority stake in Leeds United over the summer.
It's all part of the drink manufacturer's sporting empire that has seen them invest in a multitude of sports over the past decade - most notably in F1 and motorsport.
However, the iconic company also has ventures in Ice Hockey, cycling and basketball.
Klopp resigned as Reds boss following nine-and-a-half-years at the helm at the end of last season, admitting he was “running out of energy” and planned to take a sabbatical from football management.
He retreated to the Balearic Island of Majorca and his £3.4million villa that he bought in 2022, where he planned to finish work on the ‘ecological family paradise’ home.
Klopp told the podcast Willipedia via Bild: “I've dreamed of having a house in the south all my life. I like the weather, the climate, I like the people.
“There are lots of things I like here and also people I already know. It's not like I'm looking for new friends. I already have friends for life, and if some of them are here too, that's cool.
“I don't want to emigrate. We go on holiday here every now and then. But when I'm here, I want everything to be as I know it.
"That's totally boring but the point is that I want to get to know a different life, but not somewhere in the jungle or on the mountain.”
When quizzed on his next move in football, Klopp said: "It's out of the question that I'll stop working altogether. But I don't see myself continuing at the same pace as before at the moment.”
