Jurgen Klopp lookalike Ray Cornwell claims he's "brushing up on his Spanish" as he considers his next steps after the shock news that the Liverpool boss is leaving the club

A Jurgen Klopp lookalike is worried work will dry up after the Liverpool manager said he is stepping down.

But Ray Cornwell joked he’s learning Spanish as the Anfield gaffer is tipped to join Barcelona or Real Madrid one day. The real-life Klopp, 56, stunned the world of football when he said he would leave the Reds at the end of the season.

Ray, who is nine years older than the German and works as Cheeky Jurgen, said: “How could he do this? What am I going to do now?”

But he added: “I’m optimistic. I think he may go to Barcelona, so I’m brushing up on my Spanish.”

Ray, from south London, decided to mimic Klopp after his granddaughter said “why are you always on the TV?” as Liverpool were playing.

He said: “I spoke to my friend Patsy who is now my manager and we got a mould of his teeth made, bought the exact make of glasses he wears and then kitted myself out in his gear.

“Now I can’t go anywhere without people mistaking me for Jurgen or asking for autographs and pictures. It got really big after the England vs Germany game at Wembley during the Euros when ITV mistook me for the real thing.”

Former Reds player Xabi Alonso, who is now manager of Bundesliga high-flyers Bayer Leverkusen, is tipped to become the next Liverpool manager and Anfield icon Jamie Carragher recently threw his support behind his former teammate.

He said: "If Xabi Alonso was to become the Liverpool manager, which I think he will, I actually feel Liverpool have been quite fortunate that Jurgen Klopp has left at this time, is moving on, and the time for Xabi Alonso to step in is pretty perfect with the job that he's doing."
