Jurgen Klopp's agent responds to German media's SOS plea for Liverpool boss
Jurgen Klopp's agent has responded after the German media begged the Liverpool manager to take charge of the national side as they prepare for Euro 2024
Jurgen Klopp's agent has responded to an SOS plea from German media for him to take over as head coach of their national team.
Hansi Flick is under huge pressure in the role just 12 months before they host Euro 2024, with Klopp's Premier League and Champions League winning pedigree craved by fans and media.
The issue with their request is Klopp's commitment to Liverpool and ongoing contract that runs until the summer of 2026, as well as Hansi Flick's current deal running until after next summer's tournament.
Leading publication Bild want former Bayern boss Flick gone before the tournament as cannot picture the team winning the trophy - with Klopp's team now responding.
Klopp's agent Marc Kosicke told BILD: "Jurgen has a long-term contract with the LFC and the DFB has a national coach. So it's not an issue for us at all."
That comes as bad news for the German media, with Flick winning only half of his games in charge since his 2021 appointment.
That runs comes after Flick, who was Joachim Low's assistant, won 70 of his 86 games in charge of Bayern and won a historic Treble in 2019/20.
Taking part in friendlies having qualified for Euro 2024 automatically as hosts, Germany lost 2-0 to Colombia and 1-0 to Poland after a 3-3 draw with Ukraine earlier this month.
Those results came after a defeat to Belgium in March, after a disastrous World Cup.
Flick's men went out at the group stage after losing to Japan and drawing with Spain, but stuck with the manager after a 4-2 win over Costa Rica.
DFB President Bernd Neuendorf said this week: "I called him. (Flick). The national coach assured me that in September we will see a team that performs differently than last time.
"We have all wished for more successful international matches since the World Cup. We are, therefore, very disappointed and frustrated after yesterday’s game."
