Keir Starmer dubbed 'awkward and irrelevant' after Donald Trump embarrasses him on live TV

During a very important gathering of world leaders in Egypt, Donald Trump made the UK's Prime Minister Keir Starmer look like an awkard school boy after beckoning him over mid-speech

Prime Minister Keir Starmer has been dubbed “awkward” and “irrelevant” after he was seemingly ignored by United States President Donald Trump – and even artificial intelligence got in on the act. During a rather weird moment at the press conference during a peace summit in Egypt, Trump suddenly asked “where's the United Kingdom?”.

Starmer, who was standing directly behind Trump in a long line of world leaders, awkwardly stepped forward while Trump was staring directly at him and meekly said “here” behind Trump said “where...come here.”

He went on to ask if “everything was going good?” before then telling him it was “very nice of you to be here

Things then took a seriously awkward turn as Trump suddenly turned to the microphone on the podium in front of him and pretended as if Starmer wasn't there, as he said: “These people all came at like 20 minutes notice and I think it's fantastic and we have so many others . . . so many others.”

Starmer, still standing there awkwardly, pursed his lips before sauntering back to his place in the line-up with a rather baffled expression on his face.

The moment quickly went viral, with commentator Carole Malone calling claiming it showed that he was “irrelevant,” while others called him “very awkward”.

Others claimed it showed that he was a “national embarrassment” – which seems a bit harsh, to be fair.

Another said: “This made me howl. It looked so awkward. Summoned and then dispensed.”

And a fourth joked: “Donald Trump just completely upstaged Keir Starmer at the Gaza “peace” ceremony, it was pure political theatre. He strode in like he owned the room, delivered the diplomatic equivalent of a mic drop, and left Starmer standing there like an awkward extra at a family gathering. You couldn’t script it better - utterly priceless.”

And even X's artificial intelligence bot Grok got in on the act and posted: “The footage from the Gaza peace summit in Egypt shows Trump beckoning Starmer to the podium, shaking his hand briefly, then turning away to continue speaking, which left Starmer looking awkward as he retreated.”
