Sales of the hugely popular Labubu monster dolls are being paused throughout the UK after Kim Kardashian caused panic with one Instagram post seeing huge queues outside every store

Pop Mart has paused the in-store sale of its hugely popular Labubu monster dolls after chaotic scenes were sparked country-wide. For the last several weeks, Pop Mart stores have been plagued by huge queues, and in some cases customer fury with “bouncer” style security brought in to deal with it.

The chaos was sparked over the popular Labubu monster dolls, and an image posted on Instagram by Kim Kardashian telling people how great they were.

Almost overnight, huge queues were seen outside the small UK stores, making it virtually impossible for customers to get in – with the products selling out almost instantly both in-store and online.

The Daily Star's reporter Adam Cailler was stopped from going into a store last week by a queue of more than 200 people outside the newly-opened Manchester branch, just hours after Kim Kardashian's Instagram post.

And now, in an attempt to quell the chaos, Pop Mart has stopped the sale of them product.

A spokesman said: “Due to the increasing demand for our beloved Labubus, we’ve seen a significant rise in customer turnout on restock days — with long queues forming outside our stores and Roboshops

“To ensure the safety and comfort of everyone, we will temporarily pause all in-store and roboshop sales of THE MONSTERS plush toys until further notice. Please stay tuned to our social media and Discord for updates on upcoming releases.

They're literally everywhere

"Online drops will continue as usual, so keep an eye out for our announcement posts to know when the next one is happening. We’re working hard behind the scenes to improve the shopping experience both in-store and online. Thank you for your continued support, patience, and understanding.”

For the unaware, a Labubu is an elflike monster character, a collectible toy, designed by Kasing Lung and produced by Pop Mart.

She – because they are female apparently – is part of Lung's "The Monsters" series, inspired by Nordic mythology. Labubu is known for her pointed ears, serrated teeth, and mischievous grin, though she's actually kind-hearted, and are popular collectibles, especially among Gen Z and millennials, due to their cute-but-creepy aesthetic and the mystery of blind boxes.

She's been released in various styles, outfits, and sizes, adding to the collection appeal.

Labubu's popularity has grown significantly since her collaboration with Pop Mart in 2019 – which has now been paused in the UK for the first time ever.
