The Champions League final between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid was halted after a number of pitch invaders wearing 'MELLSTROY' t-shirts stormed the Wembley turf

The Champions League final between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid was abruptly halted due to a pitch invasion.

The culprit? A social media influencer named Mellstroy, who allegedly promised his followers a hefty cash prize for storming the pitch at Wembley Stadium.

A group of individuals donning white t-shirts emblazoned with 'MELLSTROY' on the front, invaded the European stage, lured by a reported $350,000 reward from the internet sensation for the first person to set foot on the Wembley turf.

Mellstroy is a popular figure on the streaming platform Kick, boasting a following of 470,700.

Born in Gomel, Belarus, in 1998, the 25 year old influencer, real name Andrey Burim, has amassed three million followers on Instagram and 1.8 million on TikTok. He kick-started his streaming career in 2015, initially focusing on gaming content featuring Minecraft, CS, Dota 2, among others, on YouTube.

However, Mellstroy later shifted his focus to streaming his daily activities and betting exploits on Kick. Despite the brief interruption, those sporting 'MELLSTROY' t-shirts were swiftly removed from the pitch, allowing the Champions League final to resume, reports Football London.

Manchester United flop Marcel Sabitzer was among those on the pitch when the three individuals stormed the field at Wembley - and managed to take one of them down before the stewards.

Ally McCoist, who was on co-comms for TNT Sport, joked that one of the individuals had been tackled by the United flop - who is now on the books of Borussia Dortmund.

A Wembley Stadium spokesperson said: "It is illegal to enter the field of play at Wembley Stadium, and we strongly condemn the actions of those who interrupted the UEFA Champions League Final shortly after kick-off.

"All of the individuals have now been arrested. We will support the relevant authorities to ensure appropriate action is taken."

Dortmund started the better of the two sides, with the Bundesliga side having the better of the chances - but the two sides went into the break level.
