Alan Shearer launched into an x-rated rant on social media as he watched his Newcastle side get picked apart by a rampant Arsenal side at the Emirates stadium on Saturday evening

Newcastle icon Alan Shearer was left furious at his hometown side when they travelled to North London.

The Magpies were put to the sword by a rampant Arsenal side at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening. In the first half, Newcastle didn't even create a single chance as their defence was left at sixes and sevens.

Shearer, 53, was less than impressed and he took to social media to share his feelings of the half: "Any danger of putting a f***ing tackle in!" However, Arsenal fans picked up on the tweet, claiming it's karma from their previous clash - where Newcastle netted a controversial goal in a 1-0 loss for the Gunners prompting an epic rant from manager Mikel Arteta.

"So satisfying after the way Arsenal were robbed at St. James’ Park," one fan replied. While a second shared: "You didn’t have this anger when we played at St James Park? Clown."

"Cheats will always get their karma," a third said. And another added: "Well done Ref. You’re the man!"

The second-half wasn't much better for the Magpies - and they shipped two more goals. Ex-Gunner Joe Willock saved face the Eddie Howe's side when he found the net in the 84th minute.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Howe admitted: "Arsenal were very good, we weren't and we got punished. We were off in most aspects of our games, we didn't do the basics right. Arsenal put us under pressure and we made technical mistakes."

Newcastle are continuing to fall down the table, and they now find themselves 8th in the standings.
