Noticia:
Statement of why we no longer support Openbox X5. (by Satduker at Openboxforum.com.)
I have today decided to no longer offer support for the Openbox X5 receiver on this forum.
My main reason is that I have had too many bad reports about this box and its support.
Whilst the Openbox X5 has some strong points (ie IPTV, VOD, PVR, YouTube) its function as a satellite receiver is somewhat left wanting and in my honest opinion it should not have yet been released to the European market as it is both unstable and lacks a solid structured support network.
This forum (.......) has been targeted by a certain manufacturer of this receiver as a back-door into pushing this box (by a few known members who have close links to the manufacturers themselves) who proclaim the benefits of this particular receiver model..
Although the initial thoughts on this receiver were good, the truth is, that it does not function correctly as a multi-sat or multi continent receiver.
One of the highest causes of concern seems to be with the official support, whilst most Manufacturers support feedback on their forums and spin-off forums the Shenzhen company named and offering support at dvb-on-line forum have appointed a moderator with little knowledge of not only the Satellite hobby world in Europe but has known links to drugs and drug websites.
His username (at the moment) is xaaxa and has reportedly (now confirmed) removed most questions that have been asked by users detailing problems with this box as well as banning those that post any negative opinions of this receiver from the support forum.
His (xaaxa) abilities as a forum member leave many things to be desired but his technical knowledge is even less.
Normally this would not be a problem as most seasoned satellite forum users (and receiver buyers) would soon note this and walk away anyway, but my problem lies in that he is at the shop forefront and actively promoting this box for the manufacturers.
Any serious problem reports are subjected to blind ridicule and if the user asks why the answer has not been given is banned from the support forum completely.
This is not how support should work is it?
We (.........) could and might in the future support this box but until a decent line of support is found for our 21,000 users we can not rely on the support that is offered by them at the moment.
If any manufacturer would like to offer a decent line of support to us and this box we will be happy to hear from them and develop a serious commitment to our users and their openbox X5 purchasers.
Until that time our support for the Openbox X5 is closed and any questions about it will be either deleted or moved from our forums.
If you have a problem with your Openbox X5 then I suggest that you now use google as we no longer support these models or manufacturers.
Regards,
Satduker.
