Gareth Southgate has announced his 33-man long list for this summers Euro 2024 - and some major household names haven't made the cut in favour of a couple of debutants

Gareth Southgate has named his Euro 2024 33-man long list - with both Marcus Rashford and Jordan Henderson missing out.

England are looking to conquer Europe for the first time this summer, having come so close at Wembley three years ago. And with the festival of football on the horizon, Southgate has named his long list, which will later be cut down to 26 players.

The usual suspects are there for Southgate: Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden. However, the 53-year-old has elected to snub two of his former favourites with other household names missing out on the squad.

The Chelsea duo of Reece James and Ben Chilwell have also been looked past by Southgate when it comes to selecting the squad. Both of the full-backs have struggled with injuries this season, and that might have played a role in Southgate's decision-making.

Raheem Sterling has also missed out, and so too have Eric Dier and Jadon Sancho - who have been fantastic in the Bundesliga. However, the household names being snubbed has opened the door for some debutants.

Jarrard Branthwaite could earn his first England cap with the Everton defender making the cut for the second successive squad. Branthwaite was an unused substitute earlier this year for England's friendlies with Belgium and Brazil

Liverpool's Curtis Jones could also be set to earn his first England cap - and so too could his club teammate Jarell Quansah.

Eberechi Eze has already made his England debut, earning minutes against Malta and Scotland - but he's since been dropped by Southgate. Eze has been called back up to the squad, and so too has his Crystal Palace teammate Adam Wharton.

Kobbie Mainoo has been the man on everyone's lips since he burst onto the scene for the Red Devils earlier this season. Mainoo made his England debut earlier this season, and he now looks set to earn more caps this summer in Germany.

Southgate still has to cut down his squad to 26 men - and that has to be submitted by midnight on 7 June and announced by 8 June.
