Britney Spears 'arrested' and 'placed in cuffs' as troubled star faces new battle
Britney Spears has reportedly been arrested for allegedly being caught driving under the influence by cops in California, the star is due to face court on May 4
Britney Spears has allegedly been 'arrested' for a DUI in California. TMZ reported the singer “was placed into cuffs by the California Highway Patrol around 9:30 PM last night”.
The 44-year-old star has since been released, according to Ventura County Sheriff's inmate records. According to reports, Britney is due to appear in court on May 4.
The U.S. Sun also claimed to have seen Britney’s inmate details, which appear to confirm her arrest. The paperwork, shows the singer’s occupation which was listed as “celebrity” and revealed she was booked into the station at 3am Thursday morning (March 5). Her vehicle was allegedly taken to Roy’s Towing in Thousand Oaks.
Britney's representative said that the singer's arrest was "completely inexcusable" and the incident "can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney's life."
They said: ""This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable. Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney's life."
"Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time. Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well-being."
This follows the star causing fan speculation as she appeared to have disabled her Instagram page. Just last month, worried fans with her chaotic social media videos where she would enthusiastically dance for her followers which her followers always found a little concerning.
She often does this in her underwear or swimwear sets as she twirls around frantically for the camera.
However, Britney's run-in with the law comes after a legal victory for the singer, as she was granted a permanent restraining order against a man who kept randomly showing up at her L.A. home.
The 51-year-old man has been harassing her online since 2013 and sharing multiple "disturbing social media posts", according to Britney's court filing. The man was also arrested for trespassing at her property last year.
Britney has also been reportedly feeling overwhelmed in the States and wants to move across the pond to the UK, as she desires for a "new place to set up home.”
A source commented: “Britney has said that she wants to live in England.
“Britney feels she has a real connection to the UK. When she was in her teens Princess Diana was a major influence on her life and she was obsessed with her sons William and Harry.
“She loves all things about the Royal family and has said that she wants to take time to see the sights there. She consumes news about things to see in London online.
“And she has always felt proud to be able to mimic the English accent well too.”
