Cristiano Ronaldo admitted he fears he ‘won’t be the same person’ as he opened up on his self-esteem.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has never been short of confidence throughout his career, but as the relentless Al-Nassr striker continues to break goalscoring records and milestones now in his 40s, he revealed one key to his career.
In his latest endeavour, Ronaldo is the co-founder of Inspire, a company focused on self-confidence, aesthetics and hair care.
Speaking to Loud FM, Ronaldo emphasised the importance of health and appearance to self-esteem, admitting that: “If you see me without hair, I will not be the same person.”
He said: “It's better to do things with hair. I prefer it. If you see me, for example, without the hair, I will not be the same Cristiano. In my opinion.
“But so many people don't care if they have hair or not. I believe with hair, you're looking better. So this is just my opinion.”
He added: “The confidence is not coming from outside, it's always coming from inside, but it's always nice to be looking good as well outside.
“So for me, the health is for me, the main key. Better health, more longevity. My focus is to be part of the great companies of health.
“I have another companies related with health that aren’t hair. So I'm glad we are here to help the people for the self-confidence.”
Ronaldo continued to express his excitement at his latest endeavour, saying: “The project, the people, it’s something that you can help people to have self-confidence.
“We [Inspire] are in Europe, we are in the Middle East as well, here in the region of Saudi Arabia and I'm really glad, to be honest, it's a nice project, we help the people, it's something that the people need and I'm glad for that.”
The Portuguese legend is said to have become the world’s first billionaire footballer, according to the latest Bloomberg Billionaire Index, with Ronaldo’s net worth estimated at $1.4bn (£1.04bn).
Ronaldo is now among a small group of billionaire sports stars, including basketball icons Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and LeBron James, as well as golfer Tiger Woods and tennis player Roger Federer.
