Nearly four months after being shipped out on loan to Spanish side Getafe from Manchester United, Mason Greenwood has scored another goal for the La Liga team

Manchester United star Mason Greenwood has scored his fourth goal for Getafe with a long-range effort from outside the box.

Greenwood is on loan at Getafe from Old Trafford after they decided he had no future at the Premier League club. It came following an internal investigation, and after the Crown Prosecution Service dropped charges of attempted rape, assault and coercive control against him in February, charges which he always denied.

He has so far managed to make 11 appearances for Getafe since his debut against Osasuna on September 17. In his latest match, Greenwood managed to find the back of the net with a strike from distance.

In a home fixture against Almeria, he opened the scoring by cutting onto his favoured left foot and sending a ferocious effort into the far corner. He wheeled off celebrating flocked by his team-mates in the Spanish capital.

It is the fourth goal he has scored since he joined the club from the Red Devils. His first goal came in a 2-2 draw against Celta Vigo in October. He also scored a brace in a 12-0 victory over CF Tardienta in the Copa Del Rey.

This is the first season of football he has played regularly since the 2021-22 campaign for United. Earlier this week, Nike reiterated that Greenwood is no longer one of their athletes, according to The Sun.

A spokesperson told the outlet: “Mason Greenwood is no longer a Nike athlete.” The spokesperson went further to say that Nike no longer had any relationship with the Getafe player.

Getafe have had a mixed start to the current La Liga season but find themselves not far off the European spots. United, on the other hand, have been derided for their form, despite sitting only eight points off the top of the Premier League.

Erik ten Hag's side are on an impressive run of form domestically but have it all to do in Europe. The Red Devils travel to Galatasaray later this week requiring three points to boost their hopes of qualification to the last-16.
