First thing was to plug up and flash the unlocker. use XpAtmel 1.31 flashed with newd13 for rom102's no dips just black jumper to flash.

Mikobu Vortex Pro Instructions.

First off, to flash the Mikobu VP, make sure the jumper on the front of the unit is attached. Sometimes ATMEL Chips are fussy, and if you are having trouble flashing, connect a 7.5V or 9V supply instead of the PS/2 Power (Do not use 12V, this may damage the regulator). Also, if you are having trouble flashing, (chip fails to verify flash). Try using the EraseV1 and EraseV2 flashes that come with XP Atmel. These will alot of the time fix up the chip and let you flash Newd13 or anything else back on.

The front jumper does not need to be removed during unlocking, and likely will not make a difference in unlocking the card. (However you may take if off if you wish)

Secondly, you will notice that the mikobu pro is unlike other unlockers on the market. This is the only unit that has external alligator clips so that you can add on any pot you wish. That being said, this unit was designed with NO POT required. It is meant for newbie users in that regard. It is also meant for advanced users because it can attach to any type of pot. The user is not locked in to what the manufacturer deems appropriate.

The pots and clips are only there for cards that have a tough time glitching and for advanced users. If you are not sure about using pots, just dont use one! Cards WILL STILL UNLOCK with NO POT ATTACHED! (it is just infinite ohms), they may just take longer but this is the safest way to go!!!

Always try glitching your card with NO POT attached FIRST (for at least 5-6 minutes) before attaching a pot. This is the safest way to glitch, and no card has ever been looped to date on this unit with NO POT attached.

*****VERY IMPORTANT*****************************
If you are going to use a trimpot, NEVER go under 50 ohms. Low ohm values are very dangerous to the card as they pass alot of current through the glitching circuitry. ALSO REMEBER TO MAKE SURE NOT TO LET THE ALLIGATOR CLIPS TOUCH WHILE THE CARD IS GLITCHING (This will short circuit the unit).

Low Ohm glitching (under 50 ohm) is where most people loop their cards. You will notice on the Vortex Pro, if the blue light starts flashing while you are turning down the pot, immediately turn it back up or disconnect it. This is a warning that you have turned the pot too low. If you want to be safe always check your pot with a multimeter prior to connecting it and don't go below 50 ohms.

Also, ALWAYS START with the 5K pot, the 1K and other pots are there only for fine-tuning cards for advanced users.
*************************************************

HOW TO CONNECT THE POT:

The unit comes with 3 pots, a 5K, 1K, and 100ohm. (The manufacturer may remove the 100ohm as it is only for advanced users and newbies may get themselves into trouble with it)

1. Attach the BLACK clip to the MIDDLE prong of the pot.
2. Attach the WHITE Clip to the LEFT prong
(The left prong is the one on the left if you are holding the pot with the knob pointing toward you).
3. Turn the pot all the way to the Right (away from the white clip). This will set the pot at it's maximum value.
4. You are ready to go!

Once you start glitching, leave it for a minute or two to see if it unlocks. Then, If you want to start tweaking the pot, SLOWLY turn it to the left, stopping every little bit and leaving it to glitch for about 30 seconds or so (if your script is showing you good +---+--+--NoRsp activity, you might want to let it sit a bit longer at that setting). A good technique is to slowly turn it back and forth gently by a very small amount when you find a good spot, Letting it sit every little bit.

*IMPORTANT**************************************** ****
If you see the blue light starting to fade or flash this is a danger sign that you have turned it too low. Immediately turn the pot back up or disconnect it, otherwise you may loop or damage your card. Always check your pot with a voltmeter and mark off where it is too low and never turn it lower then that.

Another way to be safe is tie on a 50 or 100ohm resistor to the middle leg and attach the clip to that. This will act as a safety resistor and never let you go below the danger levels.
************************************************** **********

WHAT SCRIPTS AND SETTINGS TO USE:

In general the sweet spot for most cards is between 1000-2000ohms (1K-2K).

Excellent results can be found with this unit using rebelsurf's 108 unlocker script and a 7.5V supply, with NewdRS, and the pot set at about 2K. 5 out of 6 cards pop under 1 minute with this setup.

For Rev 103-105, Nagramaster 2.0 is a great software that complients this unit. Without a pot, all cards will unlock within a few minutes with this setup. Some may take longer, but just be patient. They WILL Unlock with NO POT.

REMEMBER, THIS UNIT WAS DESIGNED WITH NO POT IN MIND FOR THE SAFEST POSSIBLE GLITCHING. IF YOU ARE NOT SURE WHAT YOU ARE DOING, DO NOT ATTACH A POT! IT WILL STILL WORK GREAT BUT JUST *MAYBE* TAKE A BIT LONGER TO DO ITS JOB AND YOU WONT LOOP YOUR CARD!.

GOOD LUCK!

Note: Cards go into the Mikobu Vortex with the chip side facing up.
