Controversial Prince Harry has been accused of creating 'unnecessary drama' and making King Charles' recent cancer diagnosis 'all about him' by friends of the Royal Family

Prince Harry has been criticised by Royal insiders for allegedly making King Charles' recent cancer diagnosis all about himself, creating "unnecessary drama" in the process.

This comes after he flew home for a brief meeting with his father earlier this week, and then returned to the United States just 25 hours later.

However, a family friend told The Daily Beast: "To announce on Monday that he [Harry] was flying home immediately after [Charles' diagnosis] was made public added unnecessary drama to an already febrile situation."

They continued: "It had people speculating that Charles was at death's door, when in fact, his cancer is eminently treatable and, as the Prime-Minister subsequently said, has been caught early."

Commenting of King Charles agreeing to see Prince Harry at such short notice, they said "any father would do the same thing," the Daily Express reports. After spending the night in a luxury hotel instead of a Royal residence, Prince Harry quickly returned to the US to be with Meghan Markle and their two children.

However, the Duke of Sussex didn't waste any time making his next public appearance when he gave a fabulous surprise in Vegas on his return to Los Angeles, presenting an award just a day after flying home.

He handed the Walter Payton Man of the Year trophy to Cameron Heyward, a Pittsburgh Steelers footballer, causing a buzz among the audience.

Regardless, officials at the Palace remained very confident of the King's health issues being resolved, saying that he was "wholly positive" about his treatment and eager to get back to his duties soonest possible.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman added: "His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer."
