Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim launched into a specular rant after he watched his side drop more points to Leeds United with a 1-1 draw on Sunday lunchtime

Ruben Amorim launched into a spectacular rant after Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Leeds as he took aim at his critics and Gary Neville.

The Red Devils had dropped more points, leading them with one win in their last five, before the United manager dropped a bombshell about his future as he launched into a defiant rant in front of reporters at Elland Road.

The Portuguese revealed he could leave when his current deal runs out in 18 months time - if he isn't sacked before then. Speaking after his side's 1-1 draw at Leeds, Amorim said: "I just want to say that I came here to be the manager of Manchester United - not the head coach.

"That's going to finish in 18 months, and then everyone is going to move on. That’s the deal, that’s my job.

"I know my name is not (Thomas) Tuchel, is not (Antonio) Conte and is not (Jose) Mourinho.

"But I am the manager of Manchester United and it is going to be like this for 18 months, or (until) when the board decides to change."

Amorim also took a dig at the club's scouts and sporting director Jason Wilcox - telling them to get on with their own jobs.

He added: "It's going to be like this until the board decide to change. I'm not going to quit. I will do my job until another guy comes to replace me.

"If people cannot handle the Gary Nevilles and the criticis of everything, we need to change the club.

"I just want to say that. I came here to be the manager of Manchester United, not to be the coach.

"And every department, the scouting department, the sporting director, needs to do their job. I will do mine for 18 months and then we will watch."

The draw made it seven games unbeaten for Leeds - their longest without defeat in the top flight since 2001.

Farke said: "We are a bit disappointed because it was possible to win the game.

"It says a lot when you are disappointed with just one point against Manchester United, as a promoted side."
