O Mozilla Firefox é um dos navegadores de maior sucesso entre os internautas, sendo uma das melhores opções para você navegar na internet — e pode ser utilizado simultaneamente com o Internet Explorer ou qualquer outro navegador. A tão esperada versão 3.0 finalmente foi lançada, mostrando-se como a nova geração do mais famoso e ascendente navegador da internet.

A terceira geração do navegador da raposinha traz mudanças e novidades há tempos aguardadas. São inovações em aspectos de interface, rapidez e melhoria no gerenciador de downloads, extensões (plugins) e muito mais.

Interface e melhorias

Uma modificação já percebida nas versões Beta do Firefox 3 é referente ao mecanismo de layout, substituída pelo Gecko 1.9, que afeta a forma de renderização de gráficos e textos, melhorando o desempenho, estabilidade, simplificação de códigos e suportes aos padrões da internet (ainda mais com os desenvolvimentos da Web 2.0). Em outras palavras, aumenta a velocidade do aumento nas páginas.

A desvantagem desta mudança fica em relação à incompatibilidade do software com Windows antigos, afetando usuários do Windows 95, 98 e ME, visto que o navegador não pode ser mais instalado nestes sistemas operacionais.

O suporte ao JavaScript 1.8 também está melhorado. Isso significa uma melhor execução de funções como vídeos, Flash e muito mais. Outra modificação encontrada na nova versão do Firefox refere-se aos botões na Barra de Navegação. Para cada sistema operacional, no caso: Windows XP, Vista, Mac ou Linux, os botões para Avançar e Voltar apresentam cores diferentes.

A fundação Mozilla lançou nesta terça-feira a versão 5 do navegador Firefox, menos de 3 meses após o lançamento do Firefox 4. No anúncio, a empresa promete que as atualizações agora serão "velozes e furiosas".
As atualizações mais rápidas são uma resposta à tática do Google, que publica novas versões do navegador Chrome em curtos espaços de tempo.

"O objetivo é oferecer os recursos e tecnologias mais recentes e a melhor experiência de navegação na Web", diz o anúncio.

Os novos ciclos de desenvolvimento que a Mozilla implementou para o seu Firefox começaram a dar os seus frutos desde que foram lançadas as diferentes versões de desenvolvimento. Logo aí começaram a ser testadas as novas funcionalidades que esta nova versão ia trazer para todos os seus utilizadores.Os resultados podem agora ser ainda mais verificados com a rapidez com que as novas versões atingem as versões estáveis. Lançado Firefox 9 – O desenvolvimento continua

Mais uma vez a Mozilla antecipa as datas de disponibilização do seu browser e coloca nos seus servidores de FTP a mais recente versão algumas horas antes da data prevista.
Muito provavelmente, como utilizador do Firefox, deverá estar a usar a versão Firefox 8. Saiba então que já pode descarregar e instalar a versão Firefox 9 agora disponível nos servidores da Mozilla.
Esta versão, anunciada para amanhã, dia 20 de Dezembro, já se encontra na versão final e com várias novidades, desta vez associadas com a integração com o Mac OS X e com a melhoria da performance geral.


O desenvolvimento do Firefox está a seguir o rumo do que foi traçado e as novas versões estão a ser disponibilizadas ao ritmo definido. Os programadores estão a centrar-se na melhoria do funcionamento geral deste browser e esta nova versão não foi diferente.
As novidades visam melhorar a performance geral e por isso foi integrado o Type Inference, o que permite uma melhoria substancial do JavaScript e dos processos associados a este. Esperam-se tempos de carregamento de páginas com melhorias na ordem dos 30%. Naturalmente que esta melhoria está associada à presença de JavaScript nessas páginas.
Porque este é um browser multiplataforma, a equipa de programadores procurou integrar o Firefox de forma mais completa no Mac OS. Para isso foram melhorada a integração dos temas do Firefox neste sistema operativo. Foi ainda adicionada a possibilidade de usar o swipe de dois dedos para controlar a navegação no browser (página seguinte ou anterior).
As restantes melhorias permitem que mantenhamos o acesso a funções de segurança, tal como a chamada via JavaScript ao estado do Do Not Track. Houve ainda a introdução de algumas novas funcionalidades de CSS3, tais com o font-stretch e a melhoria de outras, tais como o text-overflow.
No geral as melhorias abrangeram ainda algumas das novas linguagens da Internet, tais com o HTML5, o MathML e o CSS3, o que permitirá colocar o Firefox entre os browser mais actuais e com as funcionalidades mais recentes.

Claro que para além das novas funções que foram enumeradas acima, esta versão do Firefox tratou de corrigir problemas e bugs que as versões anteriores apresentaram. É com este constante trabalho de melhoria que este browser continua a ter uma presença muito forte entre os internautas.
Estas e outras importantes novidades estão já disponíveis para serem utilizadas e não espere mais para o fazer, seja dos primeiros a assegurar a evolução de um dos melhores browsers da actualidade.

Firefox 11 chegou para todos e já se notam grandes diferenças

Depois do lançamento de pelo menos duas versões do Firefox em que as principais alterações que foram introduzidas eram ao nível interno do browser, com a adição de novas melhorias de performance e a introdução de suporte para novas tecnologias, é hora de finalmente termos acesso a uma versão que traz alterações mais palpáveis.

A versão 11 foi agora disponibilizada e está pronta para ser usada por todos os que fazem do Firefox o seu browser preferido.



A disponibilização desta nova versão esteve para ser retardada graças a problemas que foram detectados durante o último Pwn2Own. Felizmente os problemas de segurança que foram apresentados foram depressa detectados e a sua correcção surgiu a tempo de garantir que a versão 11 do Firefox era disponibilizada na data prevista. As novidades mais significativas que o Firefox traz na sua versão 11 eram já conhecidas de todos os que usam as versões de desenvolvimento (Nightly, Aurora e Beta), mas são agora novidade para os utilizadores das versões finais. Na verdade a função dessas versões de teste é dar a conhecer e colocar para prova as novas funcionalidades.
Destacamos a que provavelmente vai ser do agrado para a maioria dos utilizadores. Finalmente está disponível a sincronização de add-ons entre as diferentes instâncias que tenham instaladas nos vossos diversos computadores.
Podem assim instalar um novo add-on no computador de casa e este será automaticamente actualizado no Firefox do computador do trabalho. Esta capacidade de sincronização vem juntar-se às que estavam já disponíveis.

Houve ainda melhorias a nível das ferramentas disponibilizadas para os programadores de aplicações web e para todos os que desenvolvem páginas. O início da disponibilização dessas novas ferramentas foi iniciado na versão 10 e nesta nova versão passam a estar disponíveis novas.
Passa a estar disponível um editor de estilos de páginas de forma nativa. Podem assim editar directamente o CSS das páginas que visitam e alterar directamente para ver as alterações a funcionar de imediato.
A juntar ao editor de folha de estilo (CSS) passa a estar disponível um visualizador em 3D do DOM de cada página. Esta ferramenta fantástica permite verem num ambiente 3D os diferentes elementos de cada página e entenderem a forma como são encadeados e dependentes uns dos outros, de acordo com a sua hierarquia.




Houve ainda o começar da disponibilização do suporte para SPDY. Este protocolo pretende substituir o velhinho HTTP. Este novo protocolo foi apresentado inicialmente pela Google em 2009 e tem vindo a ser desenvolvido. O Firefox 11 apesar de ter o suporte para SPDY presente não o tem activo.
Para o poderem usar devem alterar o valor da chave network.http.spdy.enabled nas configurações disponíveis em about:config.
A Mozilla retardou a disponibilização desta nova versão pelos canais normais de actualização para que não coincidisse com a disponibilização das actualizações normais da Microsoft, mas está disponível para download no seu site e nos canais de FTP (links apresentados abaixo).
A Mozilla continua a bom ritmo o desenvolvimento do seu browser e começam agora a haver novidades bem palpáveis para todos os que fazem deste o seu browser de eleição.
